SECTION 3: PERSONAL HISTORY
![]()
![]()
![]()
Arius has had somewhat
of a rough time so far in his 19 years of life. His parents were a bit
eccentric, being involved with an underground sect of Lunar separatists on
Earth's moon, they chose a rather odd trio of names for him to endure his entire
life. When he was very young, he decided to leave for the Academy, mainly
because that was one of the only ships leaving the bland rock at that time. He
studied Astronomy and graduated at the very, very bottom of his class, barely
passing at all, though the mediocre grade in his main subject made up for most
of the disappointment. The Entropy is both his first assignment and his first
time aboard a vessel larger than a shuttle.

SECTION 4: CHARACTER'S
ATTRIBUTES
![]()
![]()
![]()
1) Talents: One
would tend to believe that being possessed of a great sense of balance and
manual dexterity would excuse one from most of the bumbling and accidents of
life. This is not true in the case of Arius Deneri. His attributes are on par
with most professional athletes, though his experiences are mostly embarrassing
and/or harmful.
2) Traditions: Arius
holds no religion or lifestyle to heart, for his parents were atheist and his
home world is perhaps the only planetoid in the galaxy without an indigenous
culture. He does, however, enjoy any party, whoever or whatever it is dedicated
to.
3) Marital Status: Single,
very single, eternally perhaps.
4) Likes: Common
things on the young Ensign's mind include holodeck programs about the
renaissance on Earth, shore leave to exotic places, and fast women.
5) Dislikes: Arius
bears a strong aversion to rigid and futile authority, the blindly-obedient
chain of command, and space stations. His minor dislikes are confined to the
subtle nuances of personality that he finds unsightly in others, mainly greed,
oppression, and obtrusiveness.
6) Strong Beliefs: The
only thing he really believes in to a great extent is the base right that every
life form has to a day off every now and then.
7) Limitations: Obviously,
his inexperience will prove to be his primary foe. Being so fresh out of the
Academy has left him with certain disillusions about the world around him that
may require harsh revelation to correct. He also has a growing respect for
pacifism that may limit his effectiveness in combat.
8) Strengths: Quick
reflexes, an even quicker tongue, and a heart of gold are his only real assets.
Arius hasn't had the time to develop that other Starfleet officers have in their
histories, but in time, he'll prove to be capable of deeds far beyond what his
test scores at the Academy would predict.
9) Ambitions: To
live to see tomorrow, to enjoy that tomorrow, and to have no one remember what
he did yesterday.
10) Special Abilities:
Arius has a
veritable mountain of hidden and quietly unused skills. His young adult life on
Luna was so boring that he often spent days at a time in the libraries and
archives in Tycho City, his nose deep into the tomes. It might become common
place for Arius to produce some rare and focussed skill from time to time that
may amaze his co-workers.
11) Quirks:
A bit of a wild youth still, Arius has the propensity to wander into
places he's not supposed to be, fiddle with things he's not supposed to touch,
and talk to people he probably should leave alone.

"Arius's
ability to blend into a crowd deserves admiration; many times during a class I
eagerly wanted to call on him to see if he knew the answer, but I never could
find him. I wonder if he even showed up at all to class."
- Professor Edwin Mayor,
Starfleet Academy
"If I had to
choose one guy to take with me into a Klingon tavern during happy hour, it would
be Arius. His silver tongue and snide sense of humor would earn him the fists of
every last warrior in the place, allowing me to drink in peace, despite my human
heritage."
- Develin Jacobs, Cadet
"Arius Deneri?
You mean he's not dead yet? Well, he did pass my astro-physics class, which
isn't terribly easy. His thesis was rather insightful, and I would have to admit
that it couldn't have been easy testing just how long it takes hook spiders to
breed and multiply. Wait, isn't that the same year we had to evacuate the dorms?
Hold on a second, where did you say Arius is now?"
- Professor Kalvin
Orvidis, Starfleet Academy

SECTION 7: PERSONAL NOTE
![]()
![]()
![]()
"A lot of people
tend to think that I'm a failure or that I'll never amount to anything, but I'd
like to prove them all wrong. I graduated, which is not as easy as it's made out
to be. Sure, I wasn't the top of my class, but people need to learn that, just
because someone isn't the best at something, doesn't mean that they're
worthless. The way I have it, I have a lot of room to grow."
- Ensign Arius Deneri,
USS Entropy
