SECTION 3: PERSONAL HISTORY

Born to Balej and Meyleea Resko on Saturday 24 January 2342, in JilernaNie; one of several small AvaGem colonies on Thelka IV. She was an only child, but had numerous relatives with whom she was in daily contact. Where Leea lacked in siblings, her some-odd thirty cousins made up for it.

Leea had a rather quiet childhood. She attended school, elementary through college with numerous curricular honors, graduating at 21 (2363) with internship experience, and becoming a level one emergency response officer (roughly similar to a paramedic firefighter of the 20-21st centuries). She served in JilernaNie and neighboring communities for about four years, after which she transferred to the Thelka IV Task Force. Serving on the small band of ships, she became part of a large EMR team servicing all of Thelka, it's moon, space stations, task force ships, visiting ships, and neighboring planets within the star system. Four years later (2371) while off duty on Thelka, she helped rescue Starfleet Captain Ferguson's life after he had suffered a near fatal fall. When later expressing his gratitude, he convinced her (along with several others) to visit Starfleet see and what the organization had to offer. Later that year, Leeaneve joined Starfleet as an enlisted officer, on board the USS Banting, under command of Captain Ferguson. In 2374, Leeaneve was accepted by Starfleet Academy, graduating in 2378 and returning to the USS Banting as a tactical officer.

In late 2379, Thelka IV was engulfed in a sort of civil war, spurred by a predominantly AvaGem militia. Usually considered an overly peaceful people, many of the non-Avagem inhabitants were shocked by the sudden and unexplained violence of their attackers. Starfleet was quick to respond, sending in a large team of diplomats to calm the AvaGem. The diplomats and their ship were taken hostage almost immediately. In an attempt to remain diplomatic Starfleet sent in the nearest AvaGem Starfleet Officer, Ensign Leeaneve Resko. Their hope was that the AvaGem would listen to a fellow member of their race. Leeaneve was able to secure the release of the diplomatic team and their transport, however, during efforts to convince peace among the AvaGem, the Banting's away team, was ambushed and most killed including the first officer who died in Leeaneve's arms. The Banting and diplomatic transport almost did not escape from the system intact. Those in and associated with the offending militia (including Leeaneve’s parents) were arrested and placed in several Starfleet penal colonies.

This was a hard moment in life for Leeaneve. The sudden behavioral change of her people was very disturbing. She began to seclude herself and her performance as an officer became drastically non-existent. Captain Ferguson with the help of the ship's counselors did his best to help, but to no avail. Within a week, Leeaneve was been transferred to Earth under a counselor in Starfleet Headquarters. Leeaneve almost blatantly refused counseling, remaining as isolated as possible. By the end of one week Starfleet gave her the ultimatum of her career, and for a while she was determined to let her career vanish, but something changed her mind at the last moment. She was not immediately returned to active duty; her episode having somewhat scarred her career and few ships would take her. She was eventually accepted to the USS Challenger. For the first while under Captain West, Leeaneve was on a sort of probation, unable to serve on the bridge at tactical until she could prove herself capable of Starfleet performance. After about a month Leeaneve was returned to full duty, and shortly promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade by the new Captain, Peter Douglas.

Ensign Clayton Mock joined the Challenger shortly after Leeaneve. They were acquainted only by duty until late January. Their personal relationship grew rather quickly and they were married Thursday, 14 February 2380. They are expecting twins, a girl, Desiree, and boy, Clayton Jr.

A few days later, while the Challenger was searching for the Regency within the Briar Patch, a Section 31 agent surfaced within the crew of the ship, subsequently attacking Leeaneve in an attempt to discredit the AvaGem with the Federation. She was injected with Ketracel-White, in critical condition until the substance had disappeared from her system, afterwards being placed under close medical and security supervision. Desiree and Clayton Jr. remained unharmed.

SECTION 4: CHARACTER'S ATTRIBUTES

1) Talents: She is an expert marksman with varying weaponry, ranging from older projectile arms (pistols, rifles, etc.) to larger starship weapons (phasers, torpedoes, etc.). Also well practiced in the use of the Klingon bat’leth, and DSëj, an AvaGem martial art. Sings beautifully (according to Clayton Mock).

2) Traditions: “Keeps the Silence of her fathers …” Holds the history, traditions, language, and beliefs of her people before they became the AvaGem in her heart, as per instruction. Honors the AyaCeni who rescued the AvaGem from destruction.

3) Marital Status: Married

4) Likes: To take part in the work, to be always active in her duties and not restricted. Loves Clayton with all her heart. Organization. Continuing to use her medical knowledge, even though she is a tactical officer. Enjoys studying many forms of weaponry, and maintaining her skill in their usage. Dirty work, enjoys using her “bad side,” but also being sweet and innocent at times, even vulnerable (though rarely) just in order to better feel the protective sense of her husband.

5) Dislikes: The Jem’Hadar and being reminded of her species relationship to them, or being referred to as such a creature. Her own shortcomings; she is especially embarrassed over her reaction to the incident on Thelka IV. Dislikes her own stubbornness and has attempted to overcome it, but with little success. Loathes being left behind and restricted in her duties by both her husband and Starfleet (i.e., “maternity-leave”). She hates being unable to share the ancient past of her people with others. Dislikes the friendly joke many of her Academy comrades created in regard to her odd choice of career focus, “… shoots, then patches them up later …”

6) Strong Beliefs: Does not believe in a God, but is not wholly distant from the idea of a deity or creating intelligence. Believes strongly in the existence LolorNoggalim, an ancient enemy of the AvaGem that was mortally defeated long ago, but still plagues the AvaGem in spirit. Most other races regard this merely as myth and superstition of course. Does not carry the common belief in three immortal AvaGem who supposedly have mystical powers.

7) Limitations: Became, for a time, sour and pessimistic after the incident on Thelka IV, and is still somewhat sore. Has been known on a few occasions for a quick temper. She is extremely stubborn and commanding, and sometimes suspicious of others. Being AvaGem, she is susceptible to the hormone altering affects of Ketracel-White. The AvaGem were one of the two parent species used by the Founders to create the Jem’Hadar. With enough Ketracel-White the natural production of isogenic enzymes is disrupted and the AvaGem/Jem’Hadar becomes dependant, violent tendencies being a severe side-effect of the drug in AvaGem (along with a varying increase in strength and agility). Does not always react well internally with adrenaline, while calm in medical situations, her heart and mind, tend to race during other emergencies.

8) Strengths: Remains calm during medical emergencies. Is incredibly agile, with strength equal to that of the average Vulcan (this is the norm). Has mastered the poker face and calm outer responses, but still struggles with claming her heart and mind during tense situations

9) Ambitions: To merely succeed in all she begins. Add to this a new desire to raise a family and remain close to her husband. At this point she is not focused on gaining command

10) Special Abilities: Has an eerie ability to sense the presence of others. Some have thought her both telepathic and telekinetic, but these theories have never been tested, and the probability of both abilities in the AvaGem is still being medically researched. So far, reports are inconclusive. Can have the appearance of being very light, being able to jump unusual distances.

11) Quirks: Is very much mortal, and tends to rediscover this fact the hard way, giving little forethought to her own physical safety. Would normally live an average of a thousand years, however, upon her marriage to Clayton her long life span has shortened, and she will die a natural death once he dies. Can tend to be extremely placid and quiet when contemplating her next move, jumping to action the next moment with such seemingly impulsive veracity that she has actually frightened people. Has the ability to be diplomatic, but tends to shy away from diplomacy.

SECTION 5: CHARACTER'S CAREER

2363: Graduated from college with internship experience certified as EMRO 1 (i.e., EMT-P). Served in JilernaNie District (approximately one-half of Thelka’s colonies).

2367: Transferred to The Thelka Emergency Response Task Force as a squad leader.

2372: Joined Starfleet as an enlisted officer, serving on the Banting under Captain Ferguson

2374: Accepted to Starfleet Medical Academy, changing majors half way through her first semester from medical to tactical/security.

2378: Graduated from Starfleet Academy, returning to the Banting to serve as her Chief of security and tactical.

2379: Called upon by Starfleet as a diplomat to Thelka during the civil war, and secured the release of diplomatic hostages. Attempted to end her Starfleet career through negligence, and was transferred from the Banting to HQ. Was later accepted to the Challenger under Captain West. Promoted to Lieutenant JG by Captain Douglas.

SECTION 6: RECOMMENDATIONS

“Is a hard, dedicated worker. She does the dirty work that no one else will. I’m sorry to see her go …”
Captain Jeremiah Ferguson, USS Banting

“Obviously has a great deal of potential …”
Counselor David Adams, Starfleet HQ

SECTION 7: PERSONAL NOTE

I suppose turning back is not an option. What’s done is done, I only wish I had not been the one to crack under the pressure. Since the incident, a Captain mentioned on my profile that I’m, "a lockbox of dedication … fine Starfleet material … we just can’t seem to find the key …" I’m going to find that key, if it’s the last thing I do, and somehow, I’ll polish over my record … On a highlight, I’m glad I found Clayton, the best man I’ve ever known. I hope I never let him down like I did my crew not so long ago … God, or whatever fate controlling power there is, please help me not to let him down.
